Root XXUBMEA Android 4 1 2 Jelly Bean firmware for Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 with CF Auto Root
The XXUBMEA firmware is the latest Jelly Bean 4.1.2 build that has been launched for the Galaxy S4 Exynos 5 Octa smartphone. Using this tutorial you will learn how to successfully root this particular firmware without bricking your device. Make sure to read the entire post and that you won’t skip any steps in the process.
In order to successfully install the rooting files for your device, you will first have to read the preparation guide below:
For users who encountered problems in the process, make sure to read the extra info below.
NOTE 1: in case ODIN didn’t complete the installation, it froze or it showed some errors in the process, then you should unplug the phone from PC and then close ODIN. Remove the phone’s battery, re-insert it after 5 seconds have passed and then repeat the entire tutorial once again. Make sure that you don’t skip any steps in the process.
NOTE 2: if ODIN says that the root was completed, but your Galaxy S4 is unable to boot into normal mode, then you should power off the phone completely by removing its battery. You will now have to boot into Recovery mode and factory reset the device. Learn how to do that by reading the instructions that I have listed below:

In order to successfully install the rooting files for your device, you will first have to read the preparation guide below:
- use this guide only for the Samsung Galaxy S4 model number I9500. Don’t try to use this tutorial with any other Android smartphone as you will end up bricking it.
- your phone had to be factory unlocked.
- by rooting your smartphone you will void the its warranty.
- backup some of your most important data files before starting the rooting process.
- your computer needs the Samsung USB Drivers installed on it, so that the Odin tool will connect the PC with the Galaxy S4 device.
- in case your device doesn’t boot with the new firmware, then you will have to use the instructions listed at the end of this post to ‘factory reset’ the device. That’s why you should backup your most important data before starting the root.
- disable the Samsung Kies software and any antivirus applications from running on your computer. Such apps will interfere with the rooting process and you might not be able to complete the tutorial.
- enable USB Debugging. This is found in Developer Option, but some phones doesn’t have the Developer Options listed in the Settings drawer, which is why you need to open About Device section and tap 7 times the Build Number menu. This will enable the Developer Options, open it and check the USB Debugging box.
- read the entire guide before starting the update.
- don’t skip any steps that I have listed in the tutorial, as that will result in a failed root attempt.
- make sure that the phone’s battery is charged so that the phone doesn’t power off while you’re attempting to flash the rooting files.
- we cannot be held responsible in case you lose data files or you brick your device. This is a tutorial for advanced Android users and you shouldn’t attempt to use this guide in case you don’t know what you’re doing.
- ask for extra help in comments in case you cannot complete the root.
- Download the CF Auto-Root zip file by Chainfire from HERE. Save the file on your computer.
- Extract the contents of the zip and leave the folder on your computer’s desktop Lcd.
> you’ll obtain a file titled CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5, don’t extract any further. - Download ODIN3 v3.07 from HERE. Unzip the file and save the folder on your PC.
- Power off your Samsung Galaxy S4 completely.
- Boot the SGS4 into Download Mode. This guide should teach you how to boot Download Mode for Samsung devices correctly.
- Launch the Odin exe on your computer.
- Now, connect your device with your PC using the USB Data cable.
> wait for ODIN to confirm that the phone has been ‘added!!’ and then you can get to the next step.
> in case Odin doesn’t recognize the smartphone, then you can try to change between USB ports or reinstall the Samsung USB drivers, a download link is listed in the preparation guide above. - Go to Odin window, click PDA button.
- Now, find the ‘CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5‘ file and load it into Odin.
> don’t edit any default options of ODIN and make sure that the Re-Partition option is not enabled. - Whenever you’re ready, click the START button and wait for ODIN to complete the rooting process for your smartphone.
- When the root is complete, ODIN will display the ‘Pass’ message and your Galaxy S4 will reboot.
- Unplug the phone from computer when the Samsung logo animation appears.
- Wait for it to boot into normal mode and that should be it.

- select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ option and confirm this process.
- get back to the first Recovery menu and select ‘reboot system now’.
- your Galaxy S4 will now boot into normal Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXUBMEA mode.
